Laura Justice, PhD, CCC-SLP, is professor in the School of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University, where she also directs the Preschool Language and Literacy Research Lab at the Schoenbaum Family Center (SFC) at Weinland Park.

She conducted educationally-focused research on early literacy and language development and intervention for children at risk, including those with disabilities and those reared in poverty. Her research on these topics has been supported by grants from the Institute of Education Sciences, the National Institutes of Health, the International Reading Association, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation.

Honors include a Fulbright Research and Teaching Scholarship (2007-8), a Presidential Early Career Award in Science and Engineering from President G. W. Bush (2006), an Editor’s Award for the Article of Highest Merit from the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology (2005), and an Erskine Fellowship from the University of Canterbury (New Zealand, 2004).

Justice has authored or co-authored seven books (including Communication Sciences and Disorders: An Introduction and Language Development from Theory to Practice) and over 60 peer-reviewed research articles; served as the Founding Editor of Pearson Education’s EBP Briefs; and served as Associate Editor of Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools from 2004-2006.
